Explore answers to frequently asked questions about our 3D printing.
3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, is a process where a three-dimensional object is created layer by layer from a digital design. It uses materials like plastics, metals, or resins.
We currently offer FDM 3D printing only, however we will soon be offering the continuous carbon fiber printing technology from Fibre Seek. This technology allows for printing in the same FDM materials as other printers with the added ability to print layers with continuous carbon fibers embedded into those layers. Parts printed with this technology are many times stronger than their standard FDM printed counter parts.
We accept a variety of file formats, but STL is the most commonly used format for 3D printing. You can also provide designs in the standard Solidworks or Fusion native file formats. We can also accept other 3D file formats and use secondary processes to ensure we are able to work with them.
The time varies depending on the complexity, size, and chosen material or process. Small prints might take a few hours, while larger, intricate projects could take several days. The number of requested parts can also greatly affect the time require to complete a job so consultation on your specific project is required to better understand the lead time needed.
We can offer any FDM materials available on the market. PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA and their glass or carbon infused varieties. We also offer many colors and finishes in PLA and PETG. We will help in determining which materials will give you the best finish and mechanical properties to meet your designs desired functional specifications.
Explore the limitless possibilities with our 3D printing and engineering consulting services. From prototypes to custom creations, functional prototypes to small batch production parts we bring ideas to life.
